PLW, The Early Trombone :
In convertendo Dominus à 8: ChI SAAT; ChII SATB

Remarks: Michael Praetorius, in Syntagma Musicum III, pp. 153–54, demonstrates possible instrumental scorings using the above motets by Lasso as examples.

For In convertendo Dominus, Praetorius suggests in ChI three flutes or three mute cornetts or three violins, or alternatively violin, cornett and transverse flute or recorder, and a tenor possibly doubled by a trombone, and possibly a choirboy on the soprano part so that the text can be heard; in ChII solo voices or viola da gamba or viola da braccio or recorder, a bassoon or quart-trombone, and either soprano and/or tenor voices: ChI S, 3Vn/3Fl/3Ctto muto~Vn, Fl (Trav/Rec), Ctto, T&Trb ad lib~Trb/Bn; ChII SATB~S/T~ST, VaG/VaB/ Rec, Bn/Trb.
