Remarks: According to Troiano, an eight-part Battaglia di Messere Aniballe Organista was performed by trombones and cornetts on the occasion of the royal wedding in Munich in 1568. The present Aria della Battaglia may well be the work referred to by Troiano. Troiano reports further: a qui furono varii e bellissimi concerti, a duodeci, opere di Aniballe padovano, e di altri autori, compartiti con sei viole da brazzo, cinqu tromboni, un cornetto, & un regale dolce. (Here followed various and beautiful concertos, à 12, works by Aniballe Padovano and other composers, presented by six violas da braccio, five trombones, one cornett, and a sweet regal.)
