The instrumentation is not specific within the structure of the Balet but in the preface there is the following description for the beginning of the drama: “ . . . le silence ayant esté imposé, on ouit aussi tost derrriere le chasteau une note de hauts-boys, cornets, sacquebouttes, et autres doux instruments de musique: desquels l'harmonie" estant cessee, le sieur de la Roche. . . . ” (Also of interest in this work is an splendid engraving of 8 Satyrs playing cornetts.)
