Instrumentation from catalogues
CD, A Catalog of Music for the Cornett :
Bacco bacco euoe à 4: SATB, [Ctto, Ctto diritto, ribecchino, pipe and tabor, 2Crummhorns, Tromba torta, Harp, Tamb].

From the CANTUS partbook tavola is the following description of “Ingredere felicissimis auspiciis”: Ingredere a otto voci di Franc. Corteccia cantato sopra l'arco del portone della porta al prato da vinti quatro voci da una banda, et da l'altra da quattro tromboni, et quatro cornetti nella entrada della Illustrissima Duchessa. . . .

Additional descriptions of instrumentation by Giambulari (Florence, 1539) suggest the use of cornetts in “Gardane almo pastore” and in “Bacco, bacco, euoe.” The Gardano print indicates the use of crummhorns only for “Gardane almo pastore,” and no instrumentation is given for “Bacco, bacco, euoe.” Also of interest in this description is the staging of “Sacro e Santo Hymeno” where the muses held the following instruments (presumably they were not played during the performance): Thalia: Trombone, Euterpe: Dolziana, Erato: Violone, Melpomene: Piffaro, Clio: Flauto, Terpsichore: Liuto, Polyma: Crummhorn, Urania: Cornetto, and Calliope: Ribecchino.
